Room 255 has been working quite a bit lately on the pillar of Citizenship. As we read "The Liberation of Gabriel King", we talked about the term "Peace Warrior" used in the book and how characters fought for social justice. We have been working on making our own Peace Warrior pledges and are working on a display for the hallway. We have also started discussing the PAK, or Patton Acts of Kindness. We decided to begin by giving a special thank you to Mr. Bert, our night custodian, whose hard work leaves our classroom clean and ready for class every day. We made a poster for Mr. Bert with notes of thanks, and left it in the room for him to find. He left a wonderful message for the kids on the whiteboard, thanking them for the note!
We have also been making note of acts of kindness we do for one another. With PARCC testing coming up the first week of March, we will be spending a bit of time familiarizing ourselves with this new test. After a bit of practice with both the math and reading, we definitely noticed the difference between it and the ISAT tests. We will continue to take a look at the new format. |
